Atiku: Bullion vans must not determine election result

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, on Sunday, urged Nigerians not to allow the results of the 2023 presidential election to be determined by “bullion vans.” In a newsletter sent to our correspondent, the former vice-president and serial presidential candidate urged Nigerians to channel frustrations accrued from the scarcity of naira and fuel to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress. “A few days ago, I had cause to make a statement on the currency conversion policy of the federal government. In the said statement, I aligned my position with an upsurge of demands for a slight extension of the January 31 deadline. “While commending the magnanimity of the CBN for such an extension, it would be pertinent for the agency to take urgent measures and make the new currency available and accessible to the public. This is necessary to ease the ongoing hardships and frustration that have become manifest in our people across the country.” Speaki...

Transfer Window: Graham Potter allows Chelsea winger join PSG

Chelsea boss, Graham Potter has allowed Hakim Ziyech to join Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar at Paris Saint-Germain. The Moroccan has agreed a move to leave Chelsea and is set to sign for the French champions. Ziyech has spent three underwhelming seasons at Chelsea following a £33m move from Ajax in 2020 but many thought his performance at the 2022 World Cup would have been a turn around. The 29-year-old has failed to impress successive Chelsea managers. With the arrival of Joah Felix and Mykhailo Mudryk at Stamford Bridge this January, the Moroccan game-time will only suffer more. Ziyech is now closing in on a winter move to French champions, PSG. Ziyech has already agreed to join PSG, who are in advanced talks with Chelsea over a deal. Chelsea and PSG are optimistic of reaching an agreement, with the Blues keen on raising some funds following a heavy period of spending under Todd Boehly.
